Richard & Renee Asmondy July 4, 2003
My husband and I
were married July4,2003 in Las Vegas. We had some of our family with us and the ceremony was aired on the internet but we still wanted to have a reception at home to include
everyone. We decided to have it at The Barrack's Restaurant and Lounge in Girard because that is where we met and had our first date. Anyone who has been to the Barrack's probably
wouldn't think of it as an ideal reception site, we didn't either but it held a very special place in our hearts. I knew the food and the band would be good but never expected the
beauty they had created for us inside.
Nadine McIntosh, the banquet coordinator, had spent 21 hours making a fantasy just for us. Round
tables were brought in covered with white linens and blue linen napkins, candles all around, and beautiful daises (my favorite) adorned the room. A head table with champagne
glasses and champagne sat at the head of the dance floor. Tulle accompanied the doorways and the ceiling along with blue (another favorite) lights on the ceiling and bar. This may
sound normal to most brides but all we had asked for was the food and two special chairs for those who were handicapped. Nadine and soon to be new owners, Steve and Jen Hardik,
went extremly out of their way to make our evening more special. They even prepared my children a special meal of hot dogs and fries knowing that most children do not want stuffed
chicken breast or baked scrod with crabmeat. The kids (Matt and Trinity) were estatic to receive their own special meals. My husband and I were truly touched and can never thank
them enough.
We can only hope this article will be a good start. Thank you to the staff of The Barrack's who
helped in making our already special evening unbelievable. I don't think I know any golf course or hotel that would go that far for their clients. We'll never forget what you did
for us.
